Sea Point Sunset

Cape Town sunsets do not disappoint. We went looking for the green flicker on the sun and dd see it. Sadly, the camera did not. In winter, if the horizon is clear, there is a momentary “little green flame” just after sunset, for a few short seconds. A very rare occurrence. I live at the coast and only saw it in 1984, 1992, 2001, 2006, 2012 and 2014. Only once in all years mentioned, then twice in 2015, the bonus year.  Apparently, it is caused by refraction of sun rays through the ozone layer.
